Half-Life 2 restarts my pc after 20 mins of gameplay.Any suggestions?

when i tried to use it with my old GForce 2 (yeap thats right) it did the same thing

20 minutes? everytime? try checking your power options in control panel... should set all to NEVER except for the monitor... maybe even switch that to NEVER too and see :Þ

Next up check your screen saver... hard to say but it might have cause your driver to crash... i disable them...

Mobo, RAM, graphic card, add-on card, HD, PSU and CPU.

Sounds like another case of 'my psu is singing the low power blues~'...
Did you have similar problem when doing other thing with ya comp.?

does this have any thing to do with overheating?

maybe, i OC'ed my GC too much and it restarts like every 10minits in any game.

My PC specs (if it had anything to do with...):

P4 2.0 ghz
512 ddr400
GeForce 6200tc
40 gb 4200rpm

Heres the problem:

Everytime the game loads into a new area, the game will set AI_disable to 1. I always had to change it back to 0 everytime from the console. This is very annoying.

Please. Can anyone figure out why?

There's a solution to this problem.Change of your computer to the last time you play.Eg:if you are continuing yesterdays game,cahnge the date to yesterday's date.It will work like normal except there's a line on the screen says "node graph out of date,rebuilding..." BUT no AI disable.
Im not sure of the reason behind this.

Yeah, at first mine was a pirated one, had that problem, when i bought ori one, no prob ledi.

yeah i also encounter the same problem using pirated version but not on my ori version


my advise....just buy the ori one

yeah, its really worth it with CSS and HL2:DM, extends the period of fun.

You also get updates with the ori version and none with the pirate.

And like dkm said, free CS:S and HL:DM plus it frees you from guilt, if you have any.

i got a free copy of steam dvd. 21 games for free including half life 2. Never gave me any problems. if your com shuts down it may be due to overheating or not enough power

no. Its from pcgame.com.my when i bought my guild wars:fraction but its only for 1 month. After that i must reload my account or somthing

Auto restart . Something like these : Since your graphic card is too weak , and your PC might can't take the power hungry HL2 . So when your PC got overloaded , normally will crash . And if you use WinXP , it default setting is to restart if anything gone wrond . To disable it , go to control panel , system , in the performance tab , find an option of automatic restart and turn it off .

Another thing is that your virtual memory , also located in the performance tab of system , might be set to controlled by PC . So it is better to set it manually to 1000 MB and above . Virtual memory is very important since RAM below 1 GB will surely need it for data swap . If virtual memory too low , system will crash or get into a blue screen of death .

Since it's a pirated version, we cannot talk or discuss about it here in this forum. Go to some underground sites to get rid of it. Of course, we encourage you to buy the original version

even i buy teh 'ehem'ehem' version i still can play like usually even with

64 Vidoe Nvidia Geforce4 MX 440 (teh old age of cave grapic card )
and my rig was not too poweful like u all in this forum

get yourself an ori disc. Yes i know you're not keen but all the extras and online play is really worth it. Dont have to make it routine to buy all ori games but make it as a special treat once in a while.
