In Halo: Combat Evolved, there is a place where i can't get past a door. It is on the first level where you have to escape the Pillar of Autumn.After the nav beacon appears, I go through a door, into a corridor, then there is a message to activate the flashlight. I press the button but nothing happens. At the end of the corridor, there is another door. This is the one that doesn't open.
Please help.

Are you sure? Are you playing with the volume on? For that sequence, out of the three exits, the only exit is to a room where you need to bash open(thus teaching you how to melee by hitting the use key).

The other two are to activate your motion tracker. Listen to Cortana. If you do not listen, you are missing the great dialogue and the hints.

Honestly, if they are going to make a movie based on Halo(which they are indeed), they better not mess up, but why do i get the feeling that it will?

I'm currently at school and playing on the school computers, they don't have speakers or headphones. As for the door, it is where the first nav beacon in the whole level appears. I've tried bashing it with the melee attack but the stupid door won't budge!

then you should try other ways to get through it.Halo's a complicated but fun game.

There isnt other ways . You have to bash the door .

You have to find other alternative.

Are you deaf ? The door must be open !! If the door doesnt open then there must be some kind of bug . Find latest patch and install .

BTW , there are no other alternative . Have you played the game ?

eng_hui's right.............the door's the only way............if not, how could airboom passed through that sequence???

Wow, still fighting over the door? Why don't you guys try bashing it open like Cortana said so.

Don't give up!! Peter jackson (LOTR) is overseeing the project as co-director i think.
Plus...the same team behind LOTR special effect are doing for halo movie. So....can't wait!!! Hope to see all the spartan instead of just spartan117 (master chielf)

The damn door's the only way out. When I couldn't open the door, I turned back............ and this huge door had shut the passage where I entered.

I think you really need a speaker or gamefaqs.com

you have two options...
A: gamefaqs (like hariz said)
B: restart the level

and on a side note if its the wrong door...............

Its not the wrong door, I said already that when I try go back, another door closes the way back.

You got try bashing the door?...or even after you bashing it still stuck?..might be a bug....

Or get a speaker, headphone o_O

easy soloution RESTART THE WHOLE LEVEL.
go back a couple of saves, if its on legendary then you may have a prob
but if you are a pro its not that bad

HALO has this what I call 'simple-colour-and-same-level-design' symptom which sometimes it's hard to navigate which way you are going.

And easy mode is for wuss.
