Hi guys. I've been having this problem for a long time now... I've even asked EA about my problem but all they give was lower you sound performance and stuff like that(Take note I've tried all the stuff they suggested already). Now here is my problem....I go ahead and play battlefield 2 or battlefield 2142 online and have a few fun games.....after that when i finish playing and quit the game i go back to the desktop. I can still access Mozilla Firefox and MSN messenger fine but when ever i try to open My computer and other stuff that need to Access the hard drive Jams!!! I need help! Also when i check my Ram it was 40% being used!!! (I have a stable computer for playing bf 2 and 2142 Take note of that) I have 1gb of ram i don't know whats taking half of the ram...It could be the ram or it could be battlefield....
Please and Thank you~

albelnox99: Lets see lets see...you've mentioned you've emailed EA....but you've tried all their suggestions and still not working?

Ok, here's some simple steps that I want you to work on it, and tell me the reports afterward:-

- Check your taskbar, how many active programs?
- Have more than 2 firewalls or 2 antivirus?
- When is the last time you defragment your drive "/
ArmedandDangerous
Format, start anew. Sometimes it's the only way out. Besides,it clears all the unwanted junk you never knew you had.
albelnox99
You know what? I've formatted over six times...still having the same problem....It could be one of my programs....Anti Virus? Erm i have one only and its AntiVir. Yea i do have many programs running....
GameSky
ArmedandDangerous: Sorry for being rude to say this..but, formatting is the last solution. So, don't simply say format, format if don't found out the real problem.

albelnox99: Ok, 1 antivirus, its fine. Many programs? Try disable it or close it...and about the defragment?
ArmedandDangerous
Yeah well,he did say he tried every possible solution given by EA right? And I'm sure they gave proper advice,so it's reformat time. And he only recently revealed he reformatted so you can't hold this against me. Fragged files won't make your hang for so long and use so much RAM.
albelnox99
Yes....I've Defrag recently. Also.....After i fresh format and i quickly install the game and play online and stuff like that when i exit to the desktop it does not jam.....Formatting is not the solution.....Only after a while when using it and installing more and more programs then the problem occurs.....

Well, after you play open up your task manager and look at the performance tab....see whether there is a spike in the graph....a long and constant one...if there is look at which process is causing it and tell us. The system idle process should be 99 when you're on idle...look for any other process at 99

Type msconfig in the run box in the start menu. Uncheck Process WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI but first choose selective startup. Then go to the services tab and click the box at the bottom saying hide all microsoft services, uncheck anything you're not sure, then go to the startup tab. Uncheck any useless items, save, restart and see the difference. Boosts Windows load time and also starts way less programs on startup, hence lessening the chances a resource-hogging program will run.

Armed And Dangerous: I've done what you said and i have yet to try it. If the problem continues then i will come back here but if it doesn't then thanks all for your time!
ArmedandDangerous
Just call me AnD lol,no need to type the whole name out. Besides,it's ArmedandDangerous, one whole word =P Try it and see what happens. Should be faster.
albelnox99
