ah, my problem when I first got my RAD9550.
It seems that most games trigger off this feature which cost more trouble rather than preventing it.
This does not only occur in Fable, but in most other games I play as well. for e.g. HL2/CSS. It's very annoying.
Anyways, I underclocked my GC and it solved my VPU-R prob.
Go DL RivaTuner and underclock it a little.
For e.g. from 432mhz to 418.2mhz. Note that this is for RAD9550.
Just UC it by a little and it might work.
Or... Well, it worked for me, no more VPU-R pop-ups.
Note : Some games auto set the core-clock back to the default. So you'll have to check the RivaTuner if the VPU-R pops up again.
