Everytime I play hl2, after loading a new level, there is an error message saying Node graph out of date, rebuilding... the game stops responding and I have to wait a short time before gameplay resumes. Is this a bug? pls help this is quite irritating, i wish for faster load times too.

yes im afraid it is, but i heard that this problem also happens with original hl2 as well.

Anyway im waiting for the new stock of hl2 to arrive from the us so that i can buy it from the games shop as they are having a promotion. Should I get the dvd (1 dvd) or cd version (5 cds)?

It doesn't generally happen on original HL2 because Steam would have patched it already.

If you're going to use pirated, the way of getting around Node Graph Out Of Date is simple, but really really irritating.

Me thinks you are using pirated, but I'll give you the benefit of doubt.

I dont know any workaround but I think you should get the Gold/Silver package from Steam if you have the money and Streamyx, otherwise DVD. What's the use of having 5Cds when you can have only 1?

I'm using 56k and I don't have much money right now. Isn't installing by CD much faster than DVD since max CD speed is 52x while max DVD speed is 16x?

No idea. but so far I tried with my WoW DVD and 4CD installation its all the same speed, no diference(just you don't need to swap CDs during installation)

And Thierry, I have yet to come across DVD version of HL2(other than pirated ones). If you have any info please tell us thanks laugh.gif

DVD would be quicker as 16x in a DVD is diff. from a CD's 52x.

Hate to put you in the crossfire, but I too, for one, think that you're using a pirated vers. sad.gif

I've played pirated vers. before swtiching to original, so I know. smile.gif

Hey guys thanks for your help. I just bought an original HL2 and I must say that it is much better than the pirated HL2. There is no more AI disabled or node graph out of date error messages. The main menu screen is even interactive, you can see the CP patrolling and the helicopter flying. However, it takes a long time to load the next level and my HL2 experience is quite jerky (average 30fps).

My only gripe would be Steam. OMG I have to go through validating the CD key, followed by decrypting the game files, followed by updating HL2 & CSS, then I can play. I'm still on 56k line so I feel the squeeze. ATM I am updating CSS, and the timer says 1429 minutes b4 I am ready to play. What BS is this? Thank goodness I've updated HL2 and can play it now.

Oh how do I activate the offline mode permanently? I don't want to connect to the internet just to play offline HL2.

after successfully updating all vital updates, DC then restart STEAM, there should be a Start In Offline Mode available. and wala, done.

It's kinda tricky tho, try not to open steam up when connected to the net, as Steam might try to retrieve updates and further prevent you from the offline mode if the updates aren't installed.
