yeah, the legendary Pennzoil Skyline.
Dammit, why does Nissan have to end the production of the Skyline?

would you buy one if they were to be still producing? tongue.gif

Basically every product has a lifecycle. Car models sales go up to a certain peak and will start to come back down (on graph). Apart from that the tools used to make the car will wear in time. And we're looking at approximately on average 5,000 unique different parts per car which need to be manufactured... so thats like about maybe around 4,500 moulds, dies, jigs which need to be maintained. When these tools wear to a certain extend, it cannot be used any longer cuz quality of the parts need to be kept.

Thats why great cars like skyline and supra have to be ended. Furthermore, these cars market are considered semi niche.

I know, but the Evo and th Imprezas are still being introduced don't they?
what i meant was that there will be no more Skyline as in there wil be no more newer models, no more new design and technology that we have learnt to love from this car.I wasn't just referring to the R-34, but the Skyline legacy as a whole

oh... then i am suppose its more a marketing issue and strategy. Nissan cant have their 350Z compete against a Skyline right? Its all marketing.

True, but I thought the Fairlady was another type altogether with the Skyline being an AWD and the Fairlady an FR
And the fairlady has not t\got that mancho look of the skyline

The 350Z looks kinda girly, and is no where near the supercar-class that the Skyline reigned.

It's sad that Nissan doesnt seem to be developing an R35. Not only was the car hugely capable, it was also an important car for nissan because it created huge brandawareness for them. Small kids and teens grew up watching Skylines rip the track up on their playstations or at the JGTC. It proved to everyone that stately old Nissan can make a very capable supercar.

Yes the GTRs are indeed a remarkable and capable car. If you guys would notice the new Nissans' on the street today - Murano etc. you will see a very significant difference with its fellow Japanese makes. The interior as well as exterior has the continetal touch. Why? Does anyone here knows that Reanult owns a big stake in Nissan? So you can be sure that the top management people might not, or dont think alike those Japanese in terms of the GTRs possibilities of a come back. However, I'm pretty darn sure that they can still make GTRs if they want to. The initial investment to come up with a whole car is too huge to just scrap it off (for whatever reasons)... so chances are the GTR files are in the drawers - either for a good long term or short, no one knows for sure.

From reading around the UK GTR register, there is a new GT-R reported to be ready for presentation end of 2007/early 2008 so don't worry there will be one, just whether it will carry on the legacy as the previous incarnations did.. we'll have to wait and see. I'm hoping that its going to be different from that concept they showed a long while ago at TMS.

Do you guys know that there are a lot of cars shown in Motor Show does not make the cut to production? These cars are only 3D conceptual, which some of it can never be made in mass production or pass legal and safety requirements. But concept cars can be made reality given time and mods that it needed - which sometimes may change the whole outlook alltogether! biggrin.gif

Well I seriously hope so, because that concept was wacko.gif but word is that it will be very similar ph34r.gif But there will be a GT-R.. I don't think the people at Renault who have a say in Nissan matters will let it die but hopefully it won't be a compromised car for the sake of sales tongue.gif
