An Old Game...with Problems

Hi, I just got a 2nd hand copy of Star Wars Episode One (the PC game, dates back to about 1999) off ebay the other day. It installs fine and the first level plays fine, but then when I get to level 2 (Naboo swamps) it locks up every 5 seconds and takes aaages before it moves on. I've tried everything I know: reinstalling, running in compatibility mode for windows 98, and downloading the only patch there is for it. Any ideas?

P.S. My computer has Windows XP and an nVidia graphics card, if that's any help.
